LG’s Quad-Core Optimus G Gets Official Announcement

LG has finally made its quad-core Optimus G official.
Running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the smartphone boasts a “second generation” Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, making it the world’s first handset to marry LTE connectivity with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

According to LG, the Optimus G’s quad-core processor is around 40% faster than previous Snapdragon chips. That’s accompanied by 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.4-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 4.7-inch 1280 x 768 display, which LG claims is “clearer than AMOLED displays but requires less power.”

Even the handset’s battery is way ahead of its rivals. The 2,210 mAh cell is said to be around 60% more efficient than other batteries of the same size, and boasts a lifespans of 800 cycles — rather than the traditional 500.

“[The] Optimus G isn’t just another high-performance phone with the latest bells and whistles. It’s a collaboration of some of the best component makers on the planet coming together for a singular cause, to develop a smartphone that stands out in a sea of me-too devices,” said LG’s president and CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park.

The Optimus G will make its debut in Korea in September, and will then rollout globally before the end of the year.

Are you looking forward to it ?
